Vinny Gorgeous says he's too poor to pay for lawyer for his appeal

He's Vinny Poor-geous.
Former Bonanno crime boss Vincent "Vinny Gorgeous" Basciano is trying to convince a federal judge to make taxpayers pay for the lawyer handling his appeal.

Basciano, 53, is serving two life sentences in the nation’s toughest Supermax prison in Colorado for separate racketeering and murder convictions.
Basciano filed an “affidavit of poverty” seeking payment of his legal fees and any other fees relating to his appeal. The government footed the bill to the tune of more than $1 million for Basciano’s legal defense in his second trial in which he faced the death penalty for ordering a gangland murder.

Spending the past seven years in prison has taken its toll on the mobster’s finances, he claims.
“I currently have no cash on hand or any money in any savings other than approximately $189 in my prison trust fund account,” Basciano wrote.
