Slow going for Vinny Gorgeous
Jury selection in the capital trial of Vincent Basciano is going slowly. Judge Nicholas Garaufis had to pull in an additional 100 potential jurors for screening. So many from the previous batches of candidates had been culled out that the court needs more bodies. The process is also going slowly because of extensive questioning needed to find jurors who would be fair enough to follow the law. Some of those cut from the selection had indicated they think murderers should get the death penalty automatically. A trial date is set for April 4 opening but that is likely to be delayed.
