Feds seek to freeze assets of Bulger girlfriend

Federal prosecutors say the girlfriend of reputed Boston mob boss James “Whitey” Bulger shifted more than $100,000 from one bank account to another and transferred interest in a home she partially owns to her twin sister in the months after her arrest.
Prosecutors made the revelations in court papers filed Wednesday as they attempt to freeze Catherine Greig’s (grehgz) assets to pay potential fines she may be assessed after pleading guilty last week to harboring Bulger for the 16 years the couple evaded authorities.
They were arrested in California in June. Bulger was wanted in connection with 19 murders.
Prosecutors say Greig’s twin sister transferred $134,545 from one bank account to another bank.
Greig’s lawyer has said she has voluntarily agreed to freeze her assets pending sentencing scheduled for June 12.
