Mob associate enters plea to extortion charge in federal court
Mob associate Albino "Albie'' Folcarelli has agreed to plead guilty to a charge of extortion conspiracy stemming from his arrest and indictment last year in the shakedown of worker for $25,000 at an auto body shop in Johnston.
Folcarelli, 54, signed the plea agreement on Tuesday and it was filed in U.S. District Court in Providence. According to the deal, the mob associate is recognized as a ``career offender'' for having two prior convictions for crimes of violence. As a result, he faces a minimum of 110 months in prison, or slightly more than 9 years, when he returns to court to formally enter his plea. He will be sentenced at a later date.
Folcarelli was charged with Raymond ``Scarface'' Jenkins, also a mob associate.
