Bronx based reality show star wears wire and becomes mob informant
He was a “Mama’s Boy” with a starring role in a reality-TV show this time last year.
But these days, Anthony Zoccolillo is starring in a real-life Mafia drug case.
And he’s playing the role of informant.
Zoccolillo, 36, was identified yesterday in organized-crime online newsletter Gang Land as the man who wore a wire that secretly recorded the inner circle of a $2-million marijuana-distribution scheme.
The ring was allegedly run by Salvatore "Sally KO" Larca, a major player in the Bronx-based crew of powerful Genovese capo Ernest Muscarella.
Zoccolillo was one of five 30-something men from The Bronx featured in a TLC reality show called “Mama’s Boys.” All the men still lived with their mothers.
But when he was arrested last fall — after the show went off the air —
on drug and weapons charges, he agreed to give up Larca in exchange for
leniency, according to reports.
On the show, Zoccolillo identified himself as an aspiring cartoonist.
He wore a hidden recording device and caught Larca allegedly talking about plans to bring in two 500-pound shipments of pot from Northern California.
The high-quality pot ring was busted two weeks ago but the ex-reality star’s role was not made public until court papers were filed this week.
Zoccolillo follows another reality show player, Hector "Junior" Pagan, ex-husband of “Mob Wives” star Renee Graziano.
Pagan wore a wire to catch his father-in-law, a reputed Bonnano captain, in some incriminating conversations — at the same time Pagan was appearing on the VH1 reality show.
