Feds muscling Jr. Gotti for $10M
The feds yesterday upped the stakes at John "Junior" Gotti's upcoming retrial, and are now looking to get their hands on $10 million they believe the mob scion raked in from years of Gambino-family crimes.
Defense lawyer John Meringolo called the move in Manhattan federal court part of "the government's continuing malicious prosecution of Mr. Gotti."
"We don't even have money for transcripts."
The cash-strapped Gotti has repeatedly begged the judge for taxpayer funds to prepare for his racketeering retrial, which is set to begin with jury selection Monday.
Gotti, also charged in the murders of two drug dealers, faces life in prison if convicted.
