Curtis Sliwa has begged the city in an open letter to deny filming permits for the upcoming Gotti film and not glorify the crime family.

Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa is calling on the city to deny permits to the filmmakers of the upcoming John Gotti flick.
In an open letter to Katherine Oliver, commissioner of the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting, Sliwa argues that the city "shouldn't be in the business of glorifying criminals." The letter will be read on AM970 The Apple about 8 a.m.
"This will be a complete whitewash of all his crimes and a complete rewrite of history," the letter reads, adding that the Dapper Don's story is written by his son John A. (Junior) Gotti. Sliwa has previously called for a boycott of the $75 million film "Gotti: Three Generations."
Actor John Travolta formally announced Tuesday that he will play the late "Teflon Don."
