'Mob Wives' Season 1 Finale recap: Spouse caught cheating, final meeting & blackout beating

VH1 finished off the first season of Mob Wives with a real bang (and some obligatory hair-pulling of course). The infamous series came to a dramatic conclusion with Drita attacking Karen in an all out rage. Expletives were in abundance, drinks were spilled, and outfits were ruined. But let’s rewind.
The episode starts off with Karen on the phone with her daughter’s father. She’s finished the first chapter of her book and she’s proud. After all, the book was the reason she decided to return home and grace our borough with her presence. She even gave a copy of the chapter to Drita, who apparently doesn’t have the time to read it.
Drita is too busy dealing with drama of her own. She meets up with Carla at ‘Mob Wives’ central aka Buddha Lounge, Charleston. In a heartbreaking scene, she confesses to Carla that she discovered that her incarcerated husband had been unfaithful to her. Drita then visits a divorce lawyer to start weighing her options.
Now Drita decides that she wants to get some things off of her chest so she arranges a “meeting” with the other wives. Drita just wants to confront Karen about some “issues”. Really it’s the same nonsense about Lee (Drita’s unfaithful and incarcerated spouse), that they’ve been dealing with for most of the season.
Renee and Carla prepare for a brawl, while the clueless Karen wonders if Drita is throwing her a celebration to congratulate her on her first book chapter. Mind you this is the first chapter of a book that Drita was furious about in the first place. Seriously Karen?
Drita gets right to business and explains that Renee and Carla are just there to bear witness. Drita wants them to know that she never betrayed Karen and that they weren’t even friends when she started dating Lee. Karen goes off on a tangent about all the men she’s cheated on Lee with. Classy. The word “timeline” is thrown around excessively and then all of a sudden Drita snaps. Some ancient history is brought up between the two, Karen gets up to lung at Drita but Renee holds her back. That’s it. Drita’s up and seconds later she’s straddling Renee while grabbing Karen’s hair. Even classier. Karen’s on the ground. Security intervenes and the “ladies” are separated. Threats are shouted back and forth and the credits roll. The last five minutes of ‘Mob Wives’ manages to be trashier than the air in New Springville circa 2000. What a surprise.
Don’t fret ‘Mob Wives’ fans, VH1 has already picked up the show for a second season. This is hardly surprising considering the ratings. There will also be a reunion special airing on July 10th.
For those of you still enraged by the fact that people are going to continue to watch this garbage, well that’s just too bad. H. L. Mencken once said, “No one ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public.” When it comes to Mob Wives, the proof is in the pudding.
