Nicky Scarfo Jr says he only has $175 in bank and cant afford lawyer
Nicky Scarfo Jr., the son of jailed former boss Nicky Scarfo Sr., says he can't afford a lawyer and is asking for a public defender.
Scarfo is among 13 people arrested on racketeering, conspiracy and money laundering charges. We broke the story Tuesday morning on "Good Day."
His lawyer, Don Manno, was also charged, as was alleged co-conspirator Salvatore Pelullo.
"The indictment charges that Scarfo and Pelullo headed a racketeering enterprise whose primary focus was the extortionate takeover and looting of First Plus, a publicly-traded company headquartered in Irving, Texas," US Attorney Paul Fishman said Tuesday.
Federal officials say money was siphoned from first plus financial and used to buy expensive homes, luxury cars, jewelry, a yacht and planes.
