Gambino associate gets 21 months in jail for gambling charges
For this mobbed-up gambler, hitting 21 was a loss.
Reputed Mafia associate Michael “Mush” Russo was slapped with 21 months in the slammer yesterday for running poker games and bookmaking operations for the Gambino family.
Russo, 38, asked for a no-jail sentence on grounds that he suffers from a gambling addiction, but Manhattan federal Judge Richard Berman said the need for punishment trumped that claim.
Court records show that Russo made so many bad bets that he was forced to sell off his property, and that he’s in debt to the Mandalay Bay casino in Las Vegas for more than $18,000.
