Craigslist 'mob thug' sings the bruise

A tough-guy Mafia associate who prosecutors say tried to steal an engagement ring in a brutal mugging says he's the one who was roughed up.
"I'm innocent. Completely innocent," Gerald DeGerolamo, 65, told The Post, sporting bandages on his nose and head while awaiting a court appearance.
Law-enforcement sources said DeGerolamo replied to a Craigslist ad for an engagement ring posted by David Cushman, and the two agreed to meet Dec. 26 in front of 125 Christopher St.
When Cushman took out the ring, the ex-con sprayed him with Mace and shoved him to the ground, court papers say.

DeGerolamo said he was the one who was attacked and Maced.
"I had to have my eyes flushed at the hospital," he said, adding he also had a broken nose and needed several stitches.
Cushman declined comment.
Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Laura Ward ordered DeGerolamo held in lieu of $25,000 bond.
DeGerolamo has a long rap sheet, including a conviction in a multimillion-dollar armored-car heist, and FBI sources said he is a Luchese crime-family associate.
