Longtime Genovese soldier dies while awaiting trial on racketeering
A Genovese crime-family soldier awaiting trial on racketeering and extortion charges has died after a long illness, his attorney said yesterday.
Daniel “Uncle Danny” Cilenti, 84, was inducted into the family in 1947 and rang up arrests for bookmaking, extortion, gambling and impeding a grand-jury probe during a New York crime career that spanned “more than six decades,” Brooklyn federal prosecutors recently wrote.
