Whitey Bulger hospitalized for chest pains

One of Boston’s most notorious crime bosses was being treated at Boston Medical Center. James “Whitey” Bulger was rushed there after suffering from chest pains.
Bulger is awaiting trial at a prison on the South Shore. This is the second time he has been taken to the hospital.
The 83 year old arrived to the hospital around 2 a.m. Sunday. A source said Bulger was complaining of chest pains, but his condition is not expected to be life threatening.
People at the Boston Medical Center were surprised to hear Bulger was staying there.
“Maybe he's trying to get a rest, get out of the jail cell for a while,” said a local resident.
Bulger was indicted in 1994 in connection with 19 murders. He was on the lam with his longtime girlfriend Catherine Grieg for 16 years before they were captured in California in 2011. Grieg was sentenced in June to eight years in prison.
Bulger’s trial is expected to begin in March.
Defense attorney JW Carney is trying to get the trial date pushed back to November of next year. Carney said Bulger will take the stand.
Relatives of the alleged victims fear Bulger may not live long enough to go on trial.
